Content That Connects and Works for You

Content That Connects and Works for You

“Content is King!”
“Message over medium.”
“Say less, mean more.”

Aphorisms are great at communicating complex concepts as general truisms to practitioners, but gloss over the strategies and deeper underlying pragmatism lost to folks who don’t look beyond the surface level of why they exist.

In my most recent role one of my first acts was to shift the focus of our content. I ended the relationship with our social agency and stopped wasting hundreds of dollars “boosting” posts without a defined audience. The main content had been primarily features about things various ministries had done recently, which was nice. I began shifting our storytelling practices to share similar stories, but included the how and why behind programs and showed our audiences what went into planning and logistics; budgets and funding.

It was a minor shift that offered deeper insights into what was working within different ministry contexts to support their communities, while offering a known contact to follow up as an additional resource. I chose stories from communities that were doing things differently, engaging in spaces where they were actively helping, and connecting in ways that would resonate across organizations looking to do similar work more effectively.

The first year I saw our engagement jump 13% across our web traffic and social channels. The final quarter I was there it jumped an additional 17%. Over 15 months we saw organic growth of 40% in direct engagement without spending additional budget on advertising.

Your content can work for you, but only if you know and understand your audiences, deliver it within a timeline that makes sense and offers answers and solutions to meet their needs.

We can help you better understand your audiences and create a strategy for creating and delivering targeted content that better meets their needs and expectations.
